3 Music Activities To Help You Survive December

3 Music Activities To Help You Survive December

December is a busy month for music teachers. From winter concerts to finalizing report cards it sometimes feels like we are trying to survive until winter break. If that’s how you’re feeling, I get it and I’m with you. Here are 3 fun music activities to help you survive December.

Winter BitMoji Classroom

Rich results on Google's SERP when searching for 'Music Activities Before Winter Break'
Go to my Teachers Pay Teachers store to purchase this resource!

I created some Winter BitMoji Music Classrooms last year and my students loved it! I primarily use this resource during the week before winter break when students are bouncing off the walls. There are 2 separate BitMoji classrooms in this resource ideal for students in grades K-6. Each digital classroom contains up to 12 hidden activities for students to explore. All you have to do is customize your message on the whiteboard and replace the BitMoji! This music activity can be assigned in Google Classroom for remote learning or projected on your SmartBoard and enjoyed as a whole class!

Holiday Music Genre Lesson

Rich results on Google's SERP when searching for 'Music Activities Before Winter Break'
Go to my Teachers Pay Teachers store to purchase this resource or my entire Music Genres Bundle!

It’s no secret that my Music Genre Lessons are some of my most popular and fun resources for students. I typically teach genres to my 3rd graders. Why? It’s the age where students are beginning to discover their likes and dislikes for music and other content areas. Each week I introduce a new genre and corresponding song to my third graders. This particular lesson is excellent for the week before Winter Break and includes Christmas and Hanukkah music in its information and musical excerpts. I plan to use Let It Snow by Jule Styne as my anticipatory set but feel free to use whatever holiday tune you like! Click here to purchase this music genre lesson about Holiday music!

Name That Holiday Tune! (Boom Learning)

Rich results on Google's SERP when searching for 'Music Activities Before Winter Break'
Go to my Teachers Pay Teachers store to purchase this resource! You can also purchase it directly on Boom Learning.

Have you ever tried using Boom Cards with your music students? If you haven’t, you’re missing out on a fun and easy game that requires almost no effort on your part! Boom Cards are basically digital flashcards which are played like games. All you need is a Boom Learning account (there is a free option) and you are all set! Click here to try a DEMO of these Boom Cards which is a listening activity where students must identify each holiday tune. This resource contains 30 different Winter, Christmas and Holiday Tunes. Click here to purchase this resource for your students!
